About
Our Story
It has a long history of technology development from academia. Not long after its successful lab demonstration, reaching Technical Readiness Level 4 (TRL 4), CleanInnogen was incorporated and dedicated to commercialization endeavours.
Development History
Conception
1980s ~ 2006
Thermochemical water splitting technologies were identified as essential pathways for green hydrogen production in the United States and Canada and gained funding to support various fundamental research.
Initial Lab Verification
2007 ~ 2017
The CuCl cycle can potentially have wider applications with moderate temperature requirements. Canadian governments and Atomic Energy Canada Limited (AECL) continued research funding. Key steps are successfully validated by the Clean Energy Research Lab at the Ontario Tech University (OTU), formerly known as the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT)
Lab Scale
2017 ~ 2020
The Candian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL), AECL's research arm, built an integrated lab scale operation reaching capacity at 100g-H2/day in its Chalk River lab.
Commercialization
2020 ~
CleanInnoGen was incorporated and dedicated to commercialization efforts.
